Call him whatever you want, question his motives as much as you want, but the only American journalist who worked for the mainstream press and was critical of the US foreign policy in critical issues such as the Ukraine and Syria wars was Tucker Carlson. Therefore, Fox News’s decision to sack him was no surprise.
In the US where 6 corporations control 90% of what we see and hear through the corporate media, Tucker was the exception, as he was the most watched show in the mainstream press and he himself was critical of the US establishment on a variety of topics that affect the daily lives of people in the US and abroad.
Tucker was not only criticizing the establishment but also was self-critical. A few weeks ago, Tucker talked about his mistake of pushing the Iraq war during an appearance on the “Full Send” Podcast.
Tucker also hosted and gave his big platform to anti-war/anti-imperialist voices such as Jimmy Dore, Glen Greenwald, Aaron Mate, etc. Although Tucker bulldogged against China, he allowed people who disagree with him to share their views on Fox News. For example, Jimmy Dore said on Tucker’s show that the enemy is not China or Russia but rather the US military-industrial complex. Tucker agreed with Jimmy.
